I have a 1997 F150 SC that is not egaging into 4X4, the light comes on (4x4) and I checked the front drive shaft it is turning. So transfer case is operational. Front hubs are turning but no power is getting to them. The last time that 4x4 did engage was a week ago and it made some clunking noises when it did go in, and kept popping back out. I checked the Acuater or selonoid what ever it is, on the front axle it is also engaging when shifted in and out of 4x4. Please HELP in any way that you can. Thank You!
Can't help you too much, but I believe there is an electronic clutch that controls the speed of the front driveshaft - it syncs up the front and rear driveshaft speeds. It could be that the clutch isn't allowing enough power to get to the driveshaft. Not sure how you could test that, but it is something to consider.
