Well, here I am trying to find a home somewhere within 50 miles of San Antonio,Tx.I start my new job at a Lincoln dealership (comin back to Fords Thank God!)on april 1st.I figure the best thing for me to do is find one that is a lease to own type, seeing as how I havent had any buyers for my home here.If I could sell this home I would be able to just pay cash for my new home,or at least put a very large down payment on it,but the house market in this area seems dead.I thought this place would sell fast seeing as how it has three trout ponds on it and was an operating fish farm before I bought it.So,the heck with it.I own this place free and clear,so if I dont sell it,its like money in the bank right?Thats why Im figuring to find one that is rent to own or lease to own.I can be in the house the day I make my deposit and wont have to wait for a mortgage company to take its time approving me.But the problem is,I did a google search on homes for lease to own in Texas and it seems they all want you to apply with them before they will let you see any listings.I gave my info to a couple of them and do ya know what they said,You should receive a package from us within the next week or two!Great,I dont want to be running around like a chicken with my head cut off a week before I start my new job.I want to be settled in before that.Any Ideas?
Do you know any realtors where you live now. I'm sure they could pull up listings of homes in the area your moving to. They can contact a realtor down there and they would probably work out a deal on the commission part of it.
Yup,I tried that, but they all pretty much stick with the conventional or FHA type loans and dont get into the lease to own or rent to own type deals.I guess if I have to,I can just rent something but I hate doing that,Its like throwing money out the window.

some thing i did wrong was purchase a home when i took a job in columbus ohio way back. i was out there 9 months showed the dealer how to make good money got his csi way up. found out who was stealing from where. and got replaced on xmas eve morn. canned. could not find another job and came back to nj to my old boss. the mistake was buying. instead of waiting to see if every thing worked out.
maybe try renting for a few months or so with a option to buy. at least untill you know your in a good safe job. and happy with your new life.
good luck down there man.
Not a bad idea Mil1ion,and I am not too worried about the job Captain,I went to a few dealerships while I was down there and the fact that I have so much Ford training under my belt made the job prospects real good.Im more worried about how productive I will be during the heat of the summer.
King T - First, welcome to Texas, I think you will like it. I lived in ten states the first ten years I was married, bought and sold a few houses and profited on them all. I would always rent for a time until I learned about the area and knew where I wanted to commit. Having the proceeds from the former home is always nice when time comes to make an offer. I am surprised about your poor response from SA Realtors, most are usually hungry for a "live one". Good luck to yawl (you have to start using that word as soon as possible).

Texas has stolen another resident from another state. congrades on moving down my way. I hope you enjoy it but I dont you could do anything but. If I was down close to San Antonio I wouldnt mind looking for you but thats a whloe nother are of Texas.
So did you get all your vehicles sold or you still hanging onto a few?
I gave both of my one tons to a buddy of mine,He has 7 kids so buying a plow truck was not something he could afford.Man you should have seen the look on his face when I told him to hop in and drive it home! The other one is just a spare, the body is rusted out,but it still runs and has a good tranny and dually rear end he can use for parts.I gave my aerostar, rangers, and old e150 to another buddy who owns a scrap yard.I think he will end up selling the e150 it runs, but the aerostar needed an alternator and the 90 ranger needed a fuel pump. So,I didnt want to mess with them.I still have my 74 4x4 and my 93 E150 conversion van,and Digger my 74 F600 and a 84 Bronco II that I want to drop, tub, and stick a EFI 5.0L into.Tell me that would not be a sweet street rod!Oh yeah, and two gm products.
KT, here is a link to realtor.com. Just click on the options as you see them and it will pull up a bunch of houses. I would suggest renting until you figure out where exactly you want to be. Considering there are two Lincoln dealerships in SA, both are on high traffic streets and areas, you probably will want to commute a few miles. If you have a zip code directory you can narrow the search area at realtor.com. Other surrounding communities would be Castroville (west), Helotes(NW), Bulverde(North), New Braunsfels(NE). These are about a 25-35 mile trip into town and from there to the dealership. Helotes is about 8-10 miles from Fiesta Lincoln. Best of luck. http://www.realtor.com/FindHome/Sear...=0&poe=realtor
