Hood Hinges
The hood hinges on my '65 F100 are extremely loose. The hood is difficult to close and does not "fit" down snugly when closed. Does anyone else have the same problem? The problem seems to be that the large pin in the hinge is worn. Does anyone manufacture these pins? Is hinge replacement the only option?

Recently replaced hinges on my 65 found at salvage yard. Fortunately, able to test them w/ hood. Have not been able to locate hinges or parts for the 65/66. The springs are still available. Suggest run a search, also scan down this forum, topic came up recently, within past day or so. If recall, member who posted sometime back, reported repairing the hinge by heating w/ torch then used pressure to reseat the pivot, or something like that. Just pasted up set on ebay, believe auction was over yesterday. Not sure what you are getting, ideally like to see how they work while still on the truck. May try web search under 'hood hinge repair'.

You can purschase hinges thru numerous reprodution companies; check with Mac's Auto parts their even a site sponsor; I agree with Dave; that if you pull from a salavage yard check them first to ensure they work.
