Trailer light question

I have a 98 F150 with the towing package. I have never hooked a trailer to it and recently bought a boat. The plug on the trailer goes from 4-flat plug to a 7-round plug. The plug on the truck is 7-round. I cant get any lights. I have verified the lights work on the trailer using a battery. There is also a trailer brake control in the truck (dont know if that makes any difference). Is there a separate fuse or something I could be missing? The truck lights all work fine. Any help would be great. Thanks, Sean.

Welcome to the forums

Check the power distribution box under the hood on the drivers side. There should be a trailer light fuse and relay. They may not have ever been installed or the fuse could be blown.

There are 2 10A mini fuses, each runs one side of the trailer. I often blow the left one as my boat trailer has a short in it somewhere.

Your owners manual will give the exact location to the location of the fuses.

Does anyone know which relay is for the trailer lights on a 98 F150?
