i'm driving this v10 250 larait 4x4 for a week now and am amazed at how it runs and pulls. i can't put into words about how i feel with it. this truck is every thing i thought it would be plus a lot more.
thanks every one for all the help specing it out and super great advise.
now the biggest problem is my right foot on that small pedal.

Glad you are enjoying your new truck. Reading this makes me want mine to get here even faster. Can't wait to get behind the wheel of the V10 being I have never driven one. Did you get the tow command and if so is it as good as they say it is?
no tow command, both of my boats had hydro brakes. i did tow the big one 145 miles to sell it and the motor never knew i was towing 7500 lbs. good luck when it gets here .
When I bought my 1st V10 in April on 2000 (F350 SRW) I had to drive to Texas to get it on a dealer trade (650 miles). The truck had 12 miles on it when I picked it up, half way home I called the Wife on the cell a told her I wanted one for a Play truck. Drove the truck all summer for work loved it, went on vacation in September with my 1991 F250 SC 460 4.10 gears pulling my 5ver out to Oregon. Came home with a 2000 V10 4.30 DRW SC and now I have 2 V10s and love them both. I never thought that anything would out pull my 460 with a Banks power pack but I was wrong, the V10 out pulled it stock and with the Banks on it it's fantastic. I just love cruising down the interstate with my 15K 5ver in tow and blow past the smokers with the same type of trailer. Plus it gets a lot better mileage empty and pulling than the 460.
Just purly to get my post count up I want to advise that the Ford 2005 "Tow Command" is NOT synominous(sp?) with the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (ITBC).
While the option code for Tow Command does indeed INCLUDE the ITBC, the option also refers to the Trailer Towing Mirrors, and the 5R110 TorqueShift trans. You can get each of these three options seperatly.
So a question like; Did you get the Tow Command? Just might not get the response expected as the reader might think you are refering to the nifty Tow/Haul feature of the 5R110 or the very usefull Telescoping Trailer mirrors.
If you are interested in the Trailer Brake Controller you should ask about the new Ford controller specifically to avoid confusion. You can oder that particular option, 52b, without the 5R110 tranny or mirrors. Thus having the ITBC but not Tow Command.
I hear you RVpuller. i had an 88 F250 with a 460. That was the first year they had the EFI in the 460 so I hoped it would be as good on fuel as my 81 F250 with the 400 . Boy was I WRONG. That 460 was a gas guzzling pig. I towed my 5th wheel down to southern Cal about 4 years in a row. We were stoppimg for gas every 100 miles. When I got my 95 PSD I thought I had died and gone to heavan. We did the same trip, same 5th wheel and we could drive 300 miles between fills. I now have this 05 V10 and like Captchas says, this truck rocks.
Hotrodding around town it is twice as good on gas as the 460 was and it would blow the doors off a 460. Captchas, have you had a chance to race a PSD yet. I'm pretty sure a stock 7.3 will be easy to smoke but that sick litre might be a different story. Have you ever owned a vehicle that makes you want to hit all the red lights. These 3valve V10s do that for you. Pretty awesome when a 7500 pound truck jumps like a tiger. The new ricer half tons might be a tad quicker but my truck weighs more empty that those things total GVW. You gotta love it, Wrench.
fred is again correct. i did get the mirrors and auto trans but did not go for the brake controler as all my trailers have hydro surge disc brakes on them.the mirrors are class when towing and the tow haul , well i have to get used to it. i should not have towed with it almost right away but there was 100gs on the line that i no longer have to make payments on, wrench i will not attempt to race any thing untill i get a few gs on the clock. and a few more oil changes done.
freds words are right on for any one looking into buying a v10. this motor is so smooth and powerfull the truck's ride is much softer then my old f150 . and this am with 7 inches of unplowed white on the ground was no problem, my wife and i just have to get used to being very easy on the gas. and lose our drag racers right foot.
over all i can't put into words how i feel about this rig and say thanks enough to every one who helped spec out one heck of a truck. in love with the larait trim level and the new captains chairs.i am just at a lose of words . this group of men and ladies was so very correct.

I don't see how that could be possible, WT, even wth your GVW. Just to be sure, I ordered mine with 2wd and sb (5780lbs). I can't see much besting the v10- short of the speed limiter (that's gotta be the first thing to go!). Man, this thing wants to run!
