Hi Barry,
I took the taillight assemblies and brackets apart and repainted them. Perhaps the paint is keeping me from a good ground. I have not bled the master cylinder. I will try this next chance I have to work on the truck. Thanks for your patience,
James Q

Did you ever get power to the brake light switch?

If you repainted under the brackets, that my impede the ground. Also, bleed the master cyl closest to where the brake light switch is. I would really try to trace back the wires to the brake light switch for power. Use a continuity tester if you can. or a test light and a battery. It's either a bad ground or a break somewhere.I'm leaning towards a break.

Hello All,
I tested the brake light switch on the m/c w/a voltmeter. It is working. This should rule out the air in the m/c. However, there was no current in the wires at the switch.
Since the tailights and turn signals work, I don't think there is a ground problem. Should I fork over the cash for the switch under the steering wheel?

I think there is a solid red and a red/green? Help me out you guys with a wiring diagram!! IIRC the red is the power wire, it gets power from the headlight switch connector not the t/s switch. The output of the brake switch goes thru the t/s switch. You need to find the reason for no power from the headlight switch, most likely a poor connection or broken wire. You did check with the key on??

It's red from the fuse block to teh stop switch, red/black from the stop switch to the turnswitch in the column, then it goes to both rear lights when the turn switch is in netrul unless you use the switch then just one side stayes on with the other side is routed tru the flasher. the colors for the stop/turn are green and green/white.

Hello All,
I did test with the key on. I do not have any power in either of the wires that attach to the brake light switch on the master cylinder. I do have working tailights and turn signals.
