Have you seen both? Just because something looks similar doesn't mean they were built with the same quality.

ebay ad says made by central machinery...harbor freight stands made by central machinery...they look exactly the same down to the wheels...i think my guess is pretty "edumakated"

I have a self made engine stand with the "t" base and it is stable, I think it is a bit high and Im going to cut a few inches off. It was professionally welded I just designed it and cut and fit all the pieces. The only thing I dont like is the "T" leg I am thinking of converting to a "u" design. Youll save more by buying one as they are pretty inexpensive now.

Just my opinion but... how many engine stands would you own in a lifetime?

If you are making an investment in something that you hope to get 10-20 years from would you not spend a couple extra bucks for safety and reliability? Decent stands can be had for less than $200.00.

When I bought my dining room set I bought quality, solid hardwood construction, built to last a lifetime. Maybe I should have bought folding chairs and a card table? The chairs seemed strong enough to hold up my fat ***!

I got fed up with trying to figure what was good and what wasn't. So long story short, I'm putting my MIG to use and building my own with special features and an estimated weight bearing of at least 2000lbs.

While it is true that deals can be found out there for the savvy or value shopper generally speaking quality costs (you get what you pay for etc etc).

When it comes to safety I don't cut corners on equipment.
