Where did you see an online page about that?
Have you?
-Many of us are curious about those lights, and I myself being an electronics tech have been looking for sources for the LED's themselves to make custom ones out of....
You can purchase the semi truck LED tailights at just about any truckstop or heavy truck parts outlet. I used to have them on my truck tractor when they first came out, but they were $52 each for the 5" round tailights. I'm sure they've come down in price since then. One good thing though, they are gauranteed for life. Here is the site that has the lights.

Ah the replacment ones that go into an 1157 socket or the other waffle type 3057 I think, the led lights altho a good idea and a long life bulb, only problem I have seen is the the very low resistance and current draw of these compared to an incadecent causes the flasher to brink extra fast like you have a burned out bulb, To me the extra fast blink rate is really crappy, People have said a differnt flasher might solve the problem but I dont know I know some people were puting an inline resistor just to use these bulb with euro (clear no red whatsoever) lights, they had to have the red leds since the rubber covers didnt last long and appered orange to the eye, the euro light has since been federally banned from production and the altezza (clear with red inner lens like on 2001 ford lightning) has replaced and these lenses can use clear bulbs
I just recently bought a pair of the 5inch round led brake lights to put in my flatbed. They do flash faster than the regular lights but are also alot brighter.
The best LED replacement bulbs I have seen are made by CATZ. They work well and last A long time. I have them in my cars but not my truck. The problem with LEDs is they are very directional. They only have about A 25% window of operation (the end of the bulb must face the lens). A reg bulb has about A 270% window. I put them in my truck, they looked great from the rear but, they did not light the side of the lens. At night you could not see the rear side of the truck. My cars have separate side lights.
Semi trailers use 4" rear tail lights (most in A rubber mount). If you use an electronic flasher it solves the fast flash problem. I run LED tail lights in my car trailer also. It solves the blown bulb problems.
Trucklite has come out with A new 4" tail light under the Signal Stat line. Its A very good looking light. They should run you about $16.00 for red, and about twice as much for amber (cost more to make amber LEDs). I am the Parts Manager for A large trailer dealership.

I have a 1960 ford F100 and did a clear taillight conversion on my truck, I replace the red tail lights with clear taillights from a 57 front turn lens and installed blue dots, and in need of red Led lights, I did find a 1/2" single led bulb for the 1157 socket
