I didnt know that there was an original thread or it had ever been discussed, I was just reading along and saw this one, and it was in danger of falling off first page, so I bumped it cuz I was interested, sorry Eric
Milli1on thanks for posting those links. Unfortunately none were what I am talking about, I tried searching and could not find the thread. This post I am referring to a guy was talking about making an actual LED unit that would replace the lens and all on the 73-79 pickups and Bronco.
Maybe we can generate some interest butI wouldn't know who to contact...

I think I know the one you ared talking about. Some marketing company that made taillights for chevy trucks etc already. I spent a few minutes looking and could not find it either. Maybe someone with some time could find it. The guys address etc was in his posts.
Too bad too, I thought he was actually going to do it. Would have been a great idea for a tail light. Looks like it went in the bin with the one piece door glass and all the aftermarket add-ons for our trucks.
Here is a link to a large red led single 1/2" led with a 1157 base. I did a taillight conversion on my 1960 F100 by using clear lenses from the front of a 57-58 f100 truck
and adding bluedots, so now I have a clear taillight with bluedots and red bulbs...bulbs are on order so we will see what happens when I get them in...then when truck is done we will see about the legal side of things as it is a clear lens with no red..
I will be using LEDs for tail park turn and stop lights but I don't know what configuration yet. I may buy bulbs or I may make my own. There is another thread here that talks about fabricating some taillight units, not one of those listed above. Those are good tho
I can't see using anything but an LED anymore...
Besides it frees up extra power for that monster sub and amp
The guy that was designing the taillights works at the design/manufacturing firm that has the website jmcled.com (JMC is his initials and I'm willing to take a stab at what LED stands for). I emailed him last January to ask if he was going to make lights for the flareside. His reply back was:
"Thanks for the inquiry. If there is enough of a demand for them, I will certainly be making them. Right now I don't think I will be starting ford truck probably for a month or so. I am waiting on my contact @ National Parts Depot. Once he starts sending me the housings and lenses I will get started."
Unfortunately, I just got orders shipping me overseas (I'm in the military) so I won't be needing the lights for about 3 years. My brother gets my truck till I get back.
