This truck will not pass obd emission test because the computer says it is not ready. Give me a break, I replaced the battery last summer, it has to be ready.
Have had a mechanic drive it twice with tester hooked up running through the required drive range, once after the battery was disconnected all night. Still the computer is not ready. Any ideas???
If it won't complete the monitors there is a problem causing that. The monitors check the different engine control systems such as the EGR, EVAP, misfire detection etc.
Once all the tests are done and the monitors have completed, meaning that the truck's computer likes everything it sees, then the P1000 code will go away and it should pass the OBDII test.
You will have to get it scanned to see what the problem is.
Your dealer can check it with their WDS or NGS scan tool to see which monitor didn't complete and why not.
What if my temperature has never gotten hot high enough for the computer conduct it own test? 5 sensors are checked by this computer, one the ERG was ok, the rest related to temperature didn't register. What if I over HEAT the dam thing and see it will reset.
If you disconnect the battery for about five to ten minutes, the computer gets "reset". No need to do an overnight as far as I am aware. The truck should be plenty "hot enough" if you drive it for about 15 minutes, even in cold weather, unless your thermostat is stuck open, in which case the engine will not get to proper operating temperature. If you have noticed the temp gauge reading cold all the time, the thermostat is stuck open and should be replaced anyway. This is the only reason I am aware of that could cause the computer to think it is cold, which it would be. If that is not the case, it will need to be checked as Raceguy suggests.
