Well, now that I have found and ordered the parts to repair the rag joint, turn signals, and the driver door hinges, now I am starting on the driver's side window. Won't go up or down. It is stuck about two inches from the top allowing mother nature to wreak her havoc on the interior (such as it is).
I pulled the door panel off this morning, and found the mechanism that actually raises and lowers the window. Four screws later and I have it in my hand. It looks like the part that the hand crank actually turns (small gear encased) is stripped out allowing the shaft on which the hand crank attaches to spin freely with no inhibitions.
Am I to understand this is called the "window register"? I am trying to make sure of my terminology as that seems to be my biggest hurdle when locating parts.
Window regulators are cheap. A1 pull yourself here in town is cheap. I think $4.99 each. One thing I've learned about these trucks is not to let people rip you off! If you think a price sounds too much, it probably is. I've been through this so often while finding parts around here for my truck.
Man, now that I think about it, I had two regulators that I took to scrap just a few months ago. I woulda gave 'em to ya.
I tried to reply but when I hit submit the system keeps telling me I have referenced a web page and I am not allowed. I did not have a web page or link in my email, so I have no clue what it is talking about. Long story short; thanks for the heads up. I'll follow up on that tomorrow.
