No way should you pay for that yourself. Demand the service department to put it on as an attempted remedy. Nothing should come out of your pocket for this repair as long as the truck is under warranty, particularly since they "Fixed" this on the '05 model year.
This in no way is going to come out of my pocket. I just want to give this info to the dumb and dumber dealership that I have been dealing with so it can finally get fixed. It goes in Monday for the 4th time. Under CT Lemon Law, they can fix it or buy it back.
I have a friend at work who just got one of those new Chevy Colorado crew cab trucks and he claims his truck bed also has the shakes. Been to the dealer three times already and they can't seem to fix it.
I am a Ford person too! I never even considered any other truck when I started looking. We saved and borrowed and found just the truck we (I) wanted at a nearby dealer. Our local dealer had it delivered here to us about 4:30 pm on a rainy, rainy Saturday in Nov. 04. The salesman said it seemed to have a "flat spot" in one of the tires and we could bring it in the following Monday to get it fixed. . . . . March 20 and it's still the same as it was when we bought it, except it's been worked on a lot. teecee3 They've already put the dampers in - - -it didn't help enough to justify the two days without my truck. . . .
A fellow was out to my house yesterday and he also complained about the vibration of his 2004 F-150. I looked at his frame and it did not appear to me to be the same as my 2005 F-150. All I know is that there is zero vibration on my truck.
Although I'm absolutely sure that Ford knows this is an issue with the 04's, isn't there anyway to get them to perform this "upgrade" of the vibration damper on every 04? It should be a TSB, even though thi system is a joke as well. No one knows about the repairs unless they are lucky enough to come across boards like this one OR have been unlucky enough to have the truck in the shop repeatedly. It's like pulling teeth to get them to do the work they SHOULD automatically be doing on every 04 that comes into their shops, regardless of what you brought the truck in for.
I love Ford's products as a whole, but I have NEVER liked their service departments.
AMEN! I have always had problems with service depts. Too bad Ford can't do anything about it...to the costomer they are the face of Ford. can't sell vehicles if everyone hates to get their vehicle serviced. Still have to take my windstar in for a few problems...been about 20k miles now. Not looking forward to the trip.
Amen ReForder. They didn't do anything today (including replacing a $.50 bolt that actually shook its way out of the opposite side of the bed. By the way, this isn't a problem isolated to the '04s, an '05 was there with the same exact problem. Ford customer service is an industry joke.
Ford suggested that I take the truck back to the original dealer that serviced it. Apparently the dealership changed hands and everyone in their service dept. has been replaced. I'm counting the days to a Lemon Law filing.
Simmy dont wait ... it will only make the process longer... just make sure u have ALL the paperwork fro where anyone has worked on it. i didn't wait. in process now of getting rid of my 30,000 dollar shaker.
