I just got a superchips 1700 programmer today and put it on at the "off road" level which is 80hp, so i take the truck to the store, has alot of power, felt pretty good but it was making each shift alot lower, like over drive was at 30mph and lockup was at 35mph so i'm going down the road at 900rpm and it chugs real bad which i don't like. So I got home and put it back to stock, drove it again and no problems and just now went to the store, on the way there it was fine, on the way home it started doing the lower rpm shifting again. Anyone know what this is or why its doing it? Only did it when i had the program in and then quit and now its doing it again. Any help would be great, thanks
its the older 1700 model, don't have instructions with it but it didn't say anything about reading codes during the install. Plus theres no check engine lights coming on. A friend with a duramax said his truck was shifting funny when he first put a programmer to his, said it took a little while of driving and it quit and started shifting alot better. So i don't know. I'm going to drive it around more tomorrow and check if the programmer has a dtc reader.
