Howdy! I've been looking for a used ABS module for my '96 for awhile now. Got 3 mo. old twins. Seems like a good thing to fix. The part from Ford was WAY too much to even consider. Is there a reasonable aftermarket manufacturer or a good used source? Is the part the same as '96 F-150, Econoline?
Elmotho, dont know about the econoline but a cheaper place to order things like this than the stealership would be would be auto partsGiant .com. Check them, ive ordered parts for my other vehicles from them(abs pump< controller)Good luck TR
I am not exactly sure what you are referring to as the "module," but I replaced the ABS valve that is located on the driver's side front frame rail a with Ford part from the dealer. Not cheap, but my brakes work perfectly and the brake light never comes on.
Also - you said that you want to have a safer truck because of your 3 month olds - and then you go on to say that you don't want to spend the necessary money, and would put in a used part, or aftermarket part of dubious quality?
Hey Guys! Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like I've got a little more to think about here. I've always found this forum to be a friendly place full of very generous, knowledgeable people looking to help each other out.
That said, JBronco, it's a good thing I know you're not questioning my means, or my ability to raise my family and keep them safe. That just wouldn't be one's place here would it?

Of course not, I don't even know you. I was stating the truth as I saw it, it seemed a little odd that you are trying to save a few bucks on something that is so important. And, anything that I said was simply repeating what you said anway, in a different order. It's not as if I made it up.
A used module could fail the next day, and the quality of aftermarket parts has declined greatly in the past decade, so much so that I hesitate to buy any of the auto parts store's generic, remanufactured junk.
BTW - Next time, before you accuse people of this thing or that thing, I suggest that you do not call people out ny name on the BB. It is against policy for one thing, and it's lame for another. I have not been here for 4+ years by insulting people or making off-color comments.
