Yesterday I got my tranny that I had rebuilt back in the truck. It works like a dream and I love the way it shifts with the Transgo. Anyways, last night I noticed that my passenger headlight is really dim. I got out and hit it and it turned on again, then I feeled the wires and they were burning hot. What could cause such a thing? I tend to think that it might not be getting grounded properly. Also, when I am at idle everyonce in a while my truck will drop rpm's and raise them. It will just go back and forth almost wanting to kill the engine. It seems like it could be my TPS but I am not exactly sure because it is not throwing any codes out. Also, I had just replaced my TPS about a year ago so it makes me wonder if it is bad already?
Hot wires are a good sign of poor connections. (So are dim lamps for that matter). Definitely check the ground for that lamp and make sure the lamp itself is fully seated in the socket.
With the idle situation, make sure the adjustment on the MLPS is good. Since you just replaced the tranny, this would be the most likely location for a problem that would affect idle and engine control functions.

MLPS? Does that have something to do with an electronically controled tranny? I forgot to mention that my tranny is an AOD so I could not think of an idle connection.
The jumpy idle position is probably caused by a faulty IAC. You can clean it, but I just bought a new one and put it on. My idle was dropping too low when the AC compressor kicked on. I replaced the IAC and the truck behaves like a brand new one, it idles extremely smoothly and the rpm's never fluctate at any time. .
