I need some ideas for a carb. I have a 1976 F-250, with a 1971 460 in it. It has a mild cam, edlebrock intake, and 10.5 to 1 copression. I plan to use this truck for towing. I've asked a couple of shops for their input on what CFM I should have, and none of these suggestions have come back the same. Right now I have Edlebrock 600 on it, and it does not perform well, so I am switching to Holley. Any suggestions, and ideas, would be great. Thanks Jason
a few of us are bickering back and forth about little stuff, but I tell my opinion about Holleys, and some others complain about em, then a few back me up...personaly i would put a 750 vacuum secondary on yours, set the timing at 12-14* BTDC and buckle up!!
Is it vacuum or mech secondaries? Dbl pumper? When you say mild, what exactly are you meaning? What do you use your truck for? Thanks for taking the time to help. -Jason
It has an Edelbrock Performer intake, headers, CompCams 268H cam, lifters and matching valve springs, and an Edelbrock double roller timing chain installed straight up.
All Edelbrock carbs are mechanical secondaries with a secondary air valve to prevent hesitation when opening the 4bbls. I use it for towing and daily driving.
