I have a 2001 E350. I am a plumbing contractor & the van is always fully loaded. There is only about 1" clearance between the front I-beam & the suspension bumper. I would like to raise the front about 1 - 1.5" to give me a little more suspension travel. My current front springs according to the plate on the door jamb are "MS". I found the "build sheet" that came with the van & it says the front springs are "MV". What are the differrances & what springs would raise the front of my van?
Thanks,
Chris
I already have airbags but they don't raise the front end much. Every shop i talk to wants to make custom springs for about $350.00. Ford must have springs that will work but I don't know how to pick the right ones. I don't really want a higher spring rate. I just wnat the sitting height higher.
Carquest part # CC18041. These are springs for the older body style vans. I don't know your current spring rate, but these were HD some where around 1750 lbs. These are about 3"s longer than the newer van springs. Cost about $200. Not sure if this is what you were after, but these are what I am looking at for my lift.
You could add a set of lift blocks to the rear to level out the stance.
I have been told on this forum that Ford is known for sagging springs. My complaint was that there is a negative camber on my van. Found that Ford has spacers to go under the coil springs, but are only 1/4" thick. You could make your own spacers, and increase the length of the bottom bolt by the same rate as the size of the spacers.
I have made the spacers already, from mild steel strip, but need to buy the new M20 bolts first before converting.
I made 2 plates of 3/8" and 2 of 5/16th, so I can play with it.
Hope this helps, and is less costly as new springs
