Power steering pump question

Power steering pump question

I don't know what the deal is with my power steering pump. The darn cap is always working it's self loose and leakin and sprayin' fluid everywhere. Anyone have this problem and what's the fix? Pump works fine,and the cap seems fairly tight. Thanks Dominic

Is the cap O ring still in place and in good shape? Are the locking ears on the cap and the PS unit still in good shape? I am asking these ?s as they apply to my 99 PSD.

Yeah everything is there that's why I'm baffled. When I check the oil or just peep under the hood it's half off and fluid is everywhere. Then I spin it back on and it seems pretty tight. I dunno guess i'll try another cap?

Power Steering cap

Remove your pump cap and look in the center of it.It has a very small vent hole in it.If the vent gets plugged up with dirt it can't vent the pressure in it and will blow the cap loose.
