crossmember measurements

basically i don't have a crossmember so figure i'll probably knock one up - i need the measurements and locations of the the hot rivets as well as the width and height of the crossmember, the location of the mastercyl and the drop from the top of the chassis to the mount

As noted the drawing goes to 1941, but frames to 1947 should be the same. How perfect are you trying to make this thing? Or are you just going to knock it up?

i'm kind of spending enough on my truck so she'll be neat and tidy what ever i make up - prob use tube to make the basic structure maybe something like this http://www.chassisengineeringinc.com...s2/ES-2151.jpg 42-47 trucks used a ladder frame system similar to the 48-52 f1 other than the body being the same they share little in common with the 41

Now that does look nice. Has that nice sleek look to it. Once made a x member like that for a Camaro that I owned, except that I pinched the ends before I welded them to a stiff angle iron. Where the trans mount goes at the bottom I slotted the tubing and inserted a tongue of flat iron inside and out the otherside of the tubing and welded both sides and touched up with a grinder to make it look nice. Put a couple of small fillets angled on the flat iron to keep her stiff, and that was her. I may have a picture somewhere around.

35 to 41 frames vs 42 to 47 frames
Hi Y'all,
For some reason, I thought we had already gone through this frame issue, and I thought I had done it!!! But my aging brain could have been wrong again!!
OK...........
The 1935 to 1940 passenger frames AND the 1935 to 1941 commercial (read 1/2 ton) frames are all nearly identical with the exception of the front crossmember spring mounting height and the little side body mounts.
The 1941 Passenger and 1942 commercial frames are ENTIRELY different.
There is no real interchangeability that I am aware of between the lot. If pressed, I have a factory parts book which we could refer back to, BUT, I am all but certain that I have got it together on the above.
So, I would have serious doubts that the crossmembers would be interchangeable between a 1940 passenger/commercial, and a 1942 commercial.
As always, This is My opinion.
If there is some serious doubt, we could always refer back to the factory parts book. Although we all know that it is not always accurate, it would be a pretty solid reference piece.
