Alright, folks. I've got my Clifford four barrel intake / shorty headers / Holley 390 on my 300! WooHoo! Damn, it sounds good, too! I think I've just about got the carb tuned right. When I get my Magnaflow mufflers in, I'll let ya'll know how she runs. Already sounds like a dream, though!
I ENVY YOU LACK OF CRAP UNDER THE HOOD. THERES LIKE 2 THINGS GOING TO YOUR CARB, and you got your heater core hoses it looks like , and thats about it. I WANT IT!!! forced induction for the rest of the area.
Oh, yeah, there's plenty of room. I usually stand on the ground inside the engine compartment on the driver's side to change the plugs and oil filter. Not much to it!
I've seen the multi carb intakes, but I don't have the skill to make them work! I saw a 78 F100 at a car show a few years ago with TRIPLE two barrel Webers on his 300! I have no idea how he gets them all sync'd together.
I have no idea on the Webers either, but tuning the Holleys was fairly simple. Whatever you do to one, do to the other. In fact the hardest part was realizing I was running a Holley "Red" pump out of fuel. After switching to a "blue" pump I had no more probs.
No, I am not going to do it, but where did you get a dual 4bbl intake? Got any pics? As far as this thread, I have the usual stuff on my 300, and it is great. I don't even have the carb tuned and it still runs pretty good. Lots of power. I have been meaning to tune it for about a year now I can only imagine how much better in power, driveability, and economy it will be
I got the 4bbl intake from Clifford performance, check their website. They've got all kinds of intakes for this motor.. I know Offenhauser makes one for the 300. Other than those two, I have no idea where to find a performance intake for this motor.
I ran the Offy intake when I switched from the 1 bbl. to the 4bbl. and was very pleased with the results. Then I had the motor rebuilt with a 270 cam, ran better, then I decided to try the 2x4 intake and a 290 cam -too big. After several reincarnations my enginge builder called comp and they spec'd a cam for me. See my post under dual quad pics. I got my intake from Clifford as well.
does the offy dp or single plane work better than the clifford? the offy has a more round approach as it enters the head ,i would think that would be better ? any feed back would be great.
Plz dont kick me for asking but has any1 used that turbonator thingy i understand how they say it works in theory although they rly dont show you how it makes that vortex of air..... Anywayz just might be kool if it rly did do something for fuel mileage unlike 90% of cold air intakes and all the other ricer bs out there.
