hey again it is me. i have a broken frame on my baby. i am very sad, but i have decided to fix it. it is right by the front cross brace. the frame is completely broken and i am having a collision repair shop fix it for me. it is only like a 200 dollar job so i think it is worth it, any advice or ideas??
sorry it took me so long to get back to you. it is an 86 f-150 and the frame broke because of the steering box. the tourge with my bigger tires is what broke it i am told. i heard it is a very common thing for these trucks. but that may or maynot be true, i think that the truck was worked hard by the previous owner. i am getting it welded and reinforced at a collision repair shop. it is not a result of an accident, that is what the body guy says. he is the one who told me that they do this. anyway any info or tips would be greatly appreciated. can i swithch the box or alter it to make it not do this?? any help will be greatly appreciated.
hey i did answer you finally and was hoping that you could tell me about the frame issuse. i am not sure what is going on. I have been told that they all do this? so someone must make some sort of fix or there mightb a trick to doing this? please, anyhelp will be greatly appreciated!
I would suppose running large tires over a period of time takes it's toll. If it's a good shop you are taking it to, hopefully they will be able to make it stronger than new. I haven't heard of this being a chronic problem, but I bet a dropped pitman arm would give more strain on the box mount area.
