This weekend I am going from PA to Sandusky, Michigan with my Dad and sisters to visit my uncle. I will be going through Detroit. If I have some time I might want to go to Dearborn to the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village. Can you give me suggestions about the library and the museum. Is it worth it, what should I expect? Have any of you been there before?
Back in the 70's it took bride #1 and myself 1 day to do the museum and 2 more to do the village. You should try to allow a full day for the museum - it's worth it.
there is a very good map of HFM on the internet take a minute to look at it before you go. Also if you have time check out ASC (American Specialty Cars) they are the guys who did the chevy (ugh) SSR pickup and the are doing steel '32 Ford roadster bodies with retracable power tops, these guys are awesome and I'm reasonably sure they will do a quickie tour for you. They are in Southgate 734-285-4911

Plan on spending the whole day. I was there about 8 years ago and went through both the Edison/Ford Museum and the attached Greenfield village. Lots of interesting stuff to look at in both areas.
Greenfield Village is a sleeper; you will really like the original houses, etc. at this site. Hope you have a good weather day, since of course this is about all outside.
We stopped on our way home from Battle Creek. Spent about an hour and a half in the Village and two hours in the Museum. That was no where near enough time. Try to get at least a full day. Enjoy
You can visit the Rouge Truck Plant. Tours leave from Henry Ford Museum. Very cool. Also you can take a side trip to Ypsilanti and visit a Hudson Dealership and garage, which is now a museum. Ypsilanti is about an hour west of Dearborn on US-12. Follow the signs to "depot town" district.
