Arrrgh...figures this would happen with I parallel park on a busy street!
Somebody musta struck my driver's side towing mirror and bent it forward! The mirror's black plastic housing that attaches to the door is cracked off. The mirror is fine though. I went to the local Ford dealer to see if I could get a replacement black plastic housing. They said the part doesn't come by itself and I'd need to order a whole new mirror assembly for $216! Damn...
Does anybody know where to get the black plastic housing by itself? Or does anybody have manual towing mirrors (maybe you bought the heated powered ones to install?) they'd like to sell for cheaper?
i had the same thing happen. Woke up one morning and someone had hit my mirror completely forward and busted the whole thing. I bought a set on Ebay and they worked great and were a fraction of the cost and the ones i got were power so the manual ones should be even cheaper. Good luck
go on e-bay theres a ton of towing mirrors on there, manual, power, heated, basically anything you want .. i think most of them are around 70 bucks each, some less some more.
Ya know....living in the suburbs, I didn't figure there would be. But a friend pointed out there's a place called Pick-A-Part a few cities away. He says you pay a few buck to enter and can scavange what you want.
I figure that white F-250 and F-350's are the most common work truck around here so maybe I can find one that crashed or something...
Heck....maybe I can scavage entire doors! I currently have all manual...windows, doorlocks and mirrors. Heh...
If you can find a mirror, it can be painted to match. I did this with a Buick. 50 bucks for the mirror at a salvage yard, and 70 bucks to paint and install at a body shop. Sure beat the 400+ Buick wanted.
