My truck is a ford explorer with 145,000 miles.
While riding on the highway,my truck started to idle rough and cut off, It's restarted quickly, but did the same thing everytime I stopped.
The iac is old,so I decided to clean it with gumont carb cleaner.
Also no check engine light came on. After the iac cleaning,a loud humming noise
emerged around the air filter area, but the Explorer still suffer with the same
problem,it start but then it cut off. Any help would be great Thanks in advance
The humming sounds like the IAC. Recheck your installation of it. Check for vacuum leaks at the vacuum tree on the drivers side of the engine near the firewall.
today after running around town.I got the right IAC. Install it,the same problem
still remain, put it in rev,or drive, hesitate then shut off. The suv quickly crank
back up. Again any help would be great.I can't keep buying expensive parts
and no success. I paid 90 buck for the IAC. Hey anybody know any good
mechanic in neast philly pa
I forgot to add to my post, that the ford 95 exp. fuel filter has never been replace, neither has the maf been cleaned.Purchase the car with 49,000 miles.
Have deceided to take the explorer to the shop. Will keep the forum posted
on the results.thanks again for your help Bud1933
Had my explorer towed to a local mechanic. After two days of waiting, the
results are in.He claims the reason my explorer cuts off in drive or reverse is
the tranmission,he offer to repair it for 1800 dollars. It is the second trans. I
put into this explorer. I said to him my overdrive light never came on,like the
last time the tran. was going bad. So I decided to have the suv towed back
into my drive way. I'll either sale it for 500 buck or donated it.
