Hi everyone and I'd first like to thank everyone for their immense knowledge through posting. Most of my questions are usually answered without even posting a question.
Anyway, here's my question:
I have a 91' E150 with an inline 6 and a c6 tranny both with 183k. When I place the tranny in gear from park to drive, there is a drill-like noise as the tranny engages and a reverse drill-like noise as it is placed from drive into park. The trans shifts flawlessly other than this noise. There has never been any metal in the pan.
Is this a sign of the torque converter going? or is something else going on?
it goes right into gear without delay. The only other wierd thing is that when the tranny is cold (as in haven't been started in a few days) it shifts from 1st to 2nd late, but ONLY on the first shift of the day. It doesn't slip. It just revs higher than normal before it shifts. Every other shift of the day for as long as i'm driving shifts flawlessly.
It may not be anything to worry about, but i just dont want to get stuck anywhere.
thanks
