Question Exhaust Cut-Outs

There are these exhaust cut outs in the Summit and Jegs magazine that drag racers use when they want to "open up" there exhaust, by the pull of a lever. My question is, would it be possible to hook up one pipe to one side, and another pipe to the other side (flomaster on one pipe, glasspack on the other) so when you want it loud you could switch it to the glasspack, or vice versa?
Has anyone ever tried this?

It is possible yes, On trucks they put electric cutouts on copperhead and pipes the dumps under the cab. It would be an expensive system though.
