Help! My 98 Ford Expedition won't start every time. It comes back with a code that says I am using the wrong key (not true) and activates the theft deterrence. I have been able to start it since the first time this has happened and took it to the dealer (who gave me the theft answer), but unfortunately it worked fine while there. It worked fine for a few days, but once again it is not starting with the theft light doing a fast blink when I try to start it. HELP! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have a spare key? Does it work with the spare or same problem? Sounds like the PATS system or the chip in the key is messed up.

 

I am experiencing a similar problem with the original key from the factory. I have 2 spares and both work. The original doesn't work at all. I know there is a problem with the original key. I also know there is a TSB on this problem. In my case I am just using the spares. I will eventually have the original replaced.
