question on 4x4 shift on fly problem

question on 4x4 shift on fly problem
4x4 will only work when the hubs are locked and wont ingage when in auto. was going up a steep hill in low range [auto lock] and it 'poped' out into 4x2 low and wont go into 4x4 in auto .replaced the lock asembly hub ,but still same problem.anyone know the solution.

I had an 00 and an 04 with ESOF. The auto hubs were unreliable on both of them and I always turned the hubs to lock to make sure I really was in 4X4.
I ordered my 05 with the manual SOF and that saves you 200 bucks ( Can ) over the ESOF option. Heck, I would pay 200 bucks extra to have good old manual SOF. WHO WANTS TO TRUST A HEATER FAN SWITCH LOOK-ALIKE TO SHIFT YOUR TRANSFER CASE? Not me that nice manual shifter is great. Take care, Wrench.
