UK Explorer needs help and guidance !!
Can anybody help me,i need to install a new TCC Solenoid in the gearbox of my 97 Explorer,the gearbox is the 5R55E type.Ford uk have pulled the code telling me this is the part which is causing my OD light to flash.But my local ford dealer say they dont touch Explorer gearboxes !!.I am going to try and replace the solenoid myself and change the oil and filter at the same time.Any guidance on how easy or hard this is would be much appreciated.Great Forum by the way,even if i am a long way away...

Blinking OD light is somewhat common in the mid year Explorers. Just a suggestion, but you might want to try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes, which will reset the codes. Hook it back up and drive it. If the OD light comes back on then by all means replace the solenoid. Also, it's not good to drive any significant distance with the OD light flashing, as the trans is working extra hard (cripple/limp) mode.
