Talking UK and USA engines

Hi foilx
I live in the UK and drive a 92 Aerostar which has 160K+miles and the gearbox is geting tired so i was thinking of replacing it with a low mileage unit and thoiught maybe swapping the engine as well whilst im at it.
what I need to know is are the USA V6 engines the same as the UK v6 engines? I know the gearboxes are the same (a4ld)
I have done some reasearch and thought that they were but then someone told me no there not so im am now confused.
If they are the same then life will be so much easier when trying to get an engine coz there are loads over.
Also are any other ford parts compatible US to UK
thanx

why buy a new/ used one when you can rebuild it?

I would think that, as long as it is an Aerostar, then it would be the same 3.0L engine.

What is the digit in the 8th position of your VIN?
