That's bs as the IAC could be working just enough to not throw a code, but still bad enough to be noticed.
The IAC is located st the top back of your intake manifold. Just remove the large plastic manifold cover, then unplug the harness to the IAC, then 2 bolts to remove the IAC. If its not too bad, you can clean it with something like brake parts cleaner, then blow it dry, replace and done. Or you can just buy another one for about $70. Easy to replace.
