Dash switching

Heres my question, I have an 87 F-150 with a 302 and I have a wrecked 89 F-150 with a 300cid, and I was wondering if I could switched dashes because my 89 comes factory with a tachometer and my 87 doesnt so I wanted to know if the wiring harnesses would hook up or not? I just want to switch the speedometer and such not the whole dash.

I believe there is a write-up on changing to an instrument cluster with factory tach in the 'tech articles' section of this website. Link is in the upper right corner of this page.

Wouldn't it be easier to install an aftermarket tach on your steering column?

The cluster swaps - just plug and play, and is probably easier than wiring in an aftermarket tach.

So all you have to do is take the instrument cluster out and plug the other one in and your ready to go?
