Yes it is legal to ride in any trailer useing a fifth wheel coupler , if there is a way to open the door from the inside to get out . But I don't think it's a good idea ....Does your wife know of your plan ?? I didn't think so !
its a bad idea because a trailer will get demolished in a accident. they arnt made to survive in an accident and you can get killed. DONT RIDE IN THE TRAILER. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...4&page=2&pp=25 here is some proof. scroll down to #32.
Some states allow passengers to ride in a 5th wheel provided they have communication with the driver of the tow vehicle. Its still a bad idea, passengers in a trailer don't have visual reference to the road and will be very uncomforable in the trailer or get motion sickness. Also as mentioned above a trailer suffers badly in an accident or emergency situation. Just imagine being in a moving trailer when the driver has to make an emergency stop, a passenger might wind up plastered against the front of the trailer.
I does not really matter if it is legal or not. I do not want anyone or anything that I love to ride in the trailer of any kind. Where do you think the exhaust will end up. They will fall asleep and when you stop for a break you will find the whole family dead. Now is the joy of riding in the trailer really worth it. I have heard of a guy several years ago doing the exact thing and buring five family members. Just my thoughts.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO do not ride in the trailer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cut people out of cars and trucks all the time at work and ussualy the only people that survive are the ones wearing seatbelts. And sometimes they don't even survive. Riding in the trailer to me is the same as riding in the bed of a truck, nothing but a death wish.
True, I know it is illegal in GA too, I just finished reading the rules yesterday on something closely related. Darn, they even say you are not allowed to ride in the back of a pickup bed on the highway.
