18 or 20" rims

I will be towing a 13k# 5th wheel with an F350. Is there any difference between the 18 or 20" wheels other than looks? Ride quality, stability, longevity, etc.?

Tires are cheaper with a lot more options with 18.

If you drive unpaved roads or trails at all, you'll probably want the 18" wheels. 20" wheels are really unpleasant on the trails.

The two will perform identically. It's all about looks. You will never feel the slight change gearing by running a slightly taller tire, even when towing. On my current truck, I went from the factory 18's to a set of Ford Platinum take offs from eBay. The ride was identical and my speedo actually corrected itself as it was off 1-2 mph with the 18's. I went 20k on the 18's and now 20k on the 20's, much of which towing a 17-19k toyhauler and loaded or empty, they are the same. So, go with what you like looks wise. Personally, I'll be ordering my 2017 with the 20's...

I was worried about ride quality difference too before I swapped them in but that was gone as soon as I started to drive... However, when you think about it, this isn't like going gangster on a Honda Civic with 20" tires that have a half inch sidewall...LOL. There is still plenty of meat these 20" truck tires to help with road shock and to protect your wheels from potholes or off road damage.

I hadn't ordered yet. I was waiting for numbers and the first run to be done. But yes, I am cancelling the plan for a 450 and ordering a SRW 350 when the time is right. I'm still thinking mid winter for a spring delivery when the roads are back to being low cholesterol and pothole free...

20s with nitto terragrapplers and rides great! They do fill out the wheel wells better IMO. If you plan to run a slide in camper however, ford only offers the 18".

Checked the Nitto website because I have never heard of them. They do not appear to make sizes to fit load range E on the super duties.

Terra Grappler G2 All-Terrain Light Truck Radial Tires
They do make them in load range E in both the 18 and 20 sizes.

Thanks. I was trying to use the tire selector for specific vehicles.

I had my family member who ordered my 350 SRW price me out a 450 this morning. I don't need a 450 but man I love the look of the truck and the tighter turning radius. But, Karl4Cat's towing needs are pretty close to my needs and it's hard to justify a 450 when he's looking at a 350 instead of a 450. Curse you, Karl4Cat.

Be a leader, not a follower. Go for the 450 and show Karl4Cat what he's missing!

Tires aren't much cheaper anymore between an 18 and 20. I went with the 20's on my 2017 order because the standard stock size tires for 20 have a higher load rating than the ones for 18's. And if you go aftermarket on your tires and go a little bigger, you can get the load rating even higher with slightly larger tires that will still fit without a lift.
