There is a electrical plug at the bottom of the turbo pedestal, unplug that and it will keep your ebpv from operating. It will keep it from operating when it's cold and robbing power if you're trying to go down the highway. If you have real cold temps I'd recommend leaving it connected because it helps with warmup.
Yea, I've heard of it happening, but it is usually mechanical and not electrical when that happens. I'm trying to think of how it is operated, if it's like the wastegate and there is an actuator arm with a return spring. I was looking through my Haynes manual and can't find anything about it and I'm drawing a blank. Hopefully someone is more awake than I am and can help you.
Best thing I've done yet was D/C it. Never had it come closed while driving until it was really cold, and with my 6-speed it scared me. Now I don't have that obnoxious jet mating call noise when it is on high-idle.
