1982 f-250 351w 4x4.....i have a good cab from an 87 f-150. i got it for free. does anyone know if its gonna be hard to swap it onto my 82 250? i know the wiring will give me a time but is it worth it? the 87 is sooo good and my 82 has seen better days. iam sure i can get it on there but its getting everything to work. i dont need to cause myself more trouble than i already have with my electrical problems. i am hoping to solve them with the swap. thanks.
i never thought about the registration part. i have to call the bmv to see what they say, thanks.and then i take it the wiring from the 87 wont work. i was thinking i could just use what i needed and snip everything else. i would just need the alt. wiring and somehow hook up my electric choke. i guess i need to take a closer look at it. is there anywhere besides a junkyard that i could get a wiring harness?? thanks.
When I did my cab swap I pulled the wiring harnesses out of both cabs and used the original harnes in the new cab. Of course I was going from an 83-V8 cab to an 82-I6 cab. I had no choice but swaping over the harnesses. It wasn't to bad after gutting both cabs.
As for the DMV I has a state trooper come and check it out and assign it a state VIN number but I still register it with the original VIN. Not sure if its correct but I'v done it for 2 years now.
well, i'd do it the easy way, pop the vins out of the 82 cab and put into the 87 and call it good, they wouldnt know the differance, lol my truck is considered an 80 cause it is the only vins i could find its actually a 86. but no 1 would really know, (someone stole my vins out of my 86) lmao i know its funny, but it works. just what i did.
