Does anybody know how the dealers are disabling CC to deal with the recall until enough parts are out there. Are they just pulling a fuse or something? I'd like to do it myself.
Its the plug located right next to your brake fluid resevoir. I pulled it myself and then covered the plug ends with electric tape to avoid dirt getting in there. I also snap tied the loose end up so it would hang down and fly around. Called the local Ford Dealership for part availablity and they insisted that they unplug it because the have to due to a "procedure" to make sure that the plugs don't get dirty. I repluged the CC in and took it in to get done and they did a worse job of taping the ends up and they didn't even do anything the the loose end to prevent it from flying around!
it would be best if you let them do it because then they will notify you of when the part arrives. mainly just for fords record keeping. although i do agree with smiggs they do not do anything special to "disengage" in sensor just unplug it
I think I'll bring it into Ford to let them do the deed just to make sure they're getting a good count on parts needed. I wonder how many years we'll have to do without CC?
I don't buy this BS flying around about you gotta let Ford unplug it so you can get a new switch, or thereabouts. If I drive in there in April or May and say my truck is a 2000 and they determine it is in the recall, do you really think they are gonna send me away because I did not have the thing unplugged? I doubt it.
I agree with jas88....I unplugged mine myself and taped up the end. Why drive 30 miles to have the dealer do it?
Let some Service Writer tell me they did not unplug it, so I don't get the new switch..... It will get ugly.....
I was and still am in the same boat about not having it done by the dealer. I had to go to the dealership and pick some oil filters up so I thought I would get it done even though I had done it myself already.
