I have a 98 Ranger with a 3.0 in it that needs to be changed out, it has 275k on it. I was wondering if I could put a 4.0 in it without too much trouble. Like would the tranny bolt up? I imagine I would need to change the EEC out but I don't know that for sure. How about the radiator is it different in a 4.0? any help would help,,,thanks, Neil Kinsley
What happened to the 3.0L in your '98?

nothin, it just needs a compltete rebuild, which is probably what I will do. I was just thinking of an easy way to get more power....I was also concidering putting a v8 in it out of an explorer....I was never real impressed with the power of the 3.0 compared to my wifes explorer with a 4.0 , big difference. later,Neil
Wow!! If I got that many miles on my truck and 3.0, I'd be totally happy. So far I'm up to 93,000 with no big problems, only the hubs and a new alternator besides regular maint. Is it still running, or did it bite the bullet?
