Body Lift Question??

I have a '95 F-150 with the inline 6 and a manual tranny. It's 2wd, but I like to play in the mud and go on minor off road excursions(mostly to get to hunting & fishing spots). I'm lookin at a 3" body lift so I can have decent ground clearance. I dont have a big budget so this option is looken good to me. Is there anything I should know about body lifts? And would It have any effect on my manual tranny shifter? The performance accesories kit i'm looken at has steering extensions and bumper relocation brackets, so thats taken care of. Would this be a bad thing to do to my truck?

You would probably want to lengthen the shifter, or you would be reaching another 3" to get it. Doesn't sound like much but it is. You will also have to lengthen the filler necks on the gas tanks, lengthen or at least reposition ground straps from body to engine. If exhaust is connected to body you will have to reposition. Radiator shroud will have to be moved 3"(relocators probably come with kit). Other than that just be ready to cut somes body bolts because they usually don't come out very easy and just follow the directions and it's pretty easy. Also the better kit yo buy the easier it will be in the long run.

One more thing. You may be better off just using add a leafs front and back. You could get 2" and it would look a whole lot better and would be easier. Would also haul a load better.

the performance accessories kit should come with the gas filler ext., and pieces of round stock to extend your shifters. just cut them and weld in the extensions..... im not a big fan of the body lifts though..... too many little things to look at....... like the radiator shroud being lowered on the radiator, and if you have an aftermarket intake, if it sits on the fender well that will have to be modified. also, be sure to get the gap guards and rear bumper brackets if you want it to look clean. its much easier to pay the extra 60.00 for the rear brackets than it is to drill the frame. ultimately they are very cheap to achieve the extra clearance. good luck !!!

What brand of lift was it, and where did you get it from? Mines a 2wd so I was thinking of just some lift coils.

Suprised no one said this yet, but if youre going for ground clearance then a body lift is useless. If you didnt know, then it leaves the frame where it is and the body goes upward. You need a suspension lift. Not to mention how ugly body lifts are. Just dont, for the sake of decent looking trucks...

I ordered thru JcWhitney, it is a Rough Country lift. I know they sell for 2wd as well. I was debating about a body lift, but the amount of BS work that needs to be done was not worth it, besides bein that old im sure the coils are wearing, and such. I had never attempted a lift before, and with a good friend, some big tools, it took us a whole day to do it, minus 4 hours while i went to the E.R. It overall went well, and when i went in for an alignment, the pass side was 1/10th of a degree off, great for TTB suspension. I think the hardest part of the whole lift was getting the radius arm brackets off, they are riveted on so they have to be ground out, this is how i ended up at the hospital, cut by the grinder...lol, the rest is plug and play, you will be happy with the susp lift!!

Welcome to the "Gone to the E.R. 'cause you cut yourself with the grinder when removing radius arm bracket club!" Lol, did the same thing. The lack of room made me switch to the air hammer with a flat chisel. Took about 2.5 hours.

If you're on a budget, get 2 blocks for the rear and 2 coilspacers or leveling coils for the front. The only thing the body lift will allow you is installing bigger tires.
