This is my first posting and I was hoping to get some help. I have excessive power steering noise and my brakes don't seem right. When brakes are applied they seem to sometimes not work as quickly as they should and it feels like I need to push harder on the pedal. I can feel vibration in the pedal and the steering wheel. Any Ideas? Any help would be appreciated. This has already cost me $500.00 for the repairs of the back of someones jeep. Thanks

The power steering noise could be anything from low fluid level to the pump going out . The "vibration" in the brake peddle and steering wheel sounds like the front rotors are warped , the hard brake peddle could be the powerbrake booster , the vacume pump or the anti-lock system not working properly . IF you're not comfortable working on the brake system I would take it to a certified shop to have it checked out and fixed ( could have had a lot of brake work done for $500 ) .
Thanks for the reply. I have 7.3 powerstroke. The feeling in the pedal and steering wheel is not a rotor warp feel. It is more like I can feel the noise that the power steering pump is making. Sounds wierd but that's the only way to describe it. This is just one of many problems I've had with this truck. Starting to think I should have stuck to my reliable GMC (120,000 miles) and no problems. Thanks

If the powersteering pump is not low or out of fluid it may be time to replace it , but that doesn't explain the problams with your brakes . Mileage , maintainence and abuse all play a part in the reliability of a vehicle , and you have no control over the way your truck was cared for or driven before you purchased it . All you can do is try to restore things the way they should be .
Of course it may help explain his brakes, PSD brake boosters are run off the power steering pump. May be time to have yours checked. Noticed any increased steering and/or brake pedal input?
