i have a sportmaster soft cover in gray to match my truck. i' ve had a sportmaster cover on my last 2 trucks they have a thicker material that won't shrink and strech as bad as others. plus a good warranty. i think the fiberglass cover turns a good truck into a station wagon those people should have bought a mini van (just kiddin)
I just picked up my UNDERCOVER for my bed. I love it. It works awsome. Looks great.
I paid 639 installed for mine. Really a quality item. Has four brackets that hold it on. It hinges and weighs 58lbs. So it should be a breeze to take off. Also comes with 2 hooks to hang it in the garage.
i was just at the truck accessory shop and it felt like the demo for the roll n lock had more spring tension. again, maybe an adjustment issue, but i usually have to push the pace edwards cover open.
Check out Peragon.com. They have a really nice looking unit. Aluminum, not plastic. Locking. No drill. No canister--accordion fold. Only $574.00 shipped. They have a picture of it on a SuperDuty.
I went with a "folding cover" from Advance Covers. It is a nice cross between a soft cover and a full hard topper. What I like is the ability to keep your packages or luggage or whatever, dry in the back of the truck with enough security to keep an otherwise honest person out of your stuff. The really nice thing is that if I am out shopping with the Mrs., and she finds a new recliner that is perfect for my spot in the TV room, we can buy it and take it home on the same day. Just fold the hard panels on top of themselves to the front of the bed, and load the new chair in the truck. It is also light enough, that if I need ALL of the truck bed open, I can fold it up, remove two bolts, and lift the panels off of the truck easily myself, without asking for someone to help.
Both the front and rear panels are able to be opened individually, and if left unlocked, you don't need a key to release the latching mechanism.
I am quite pleased with this cover for my purposes, but your needs will determine what cover is best for you,
I've only had my retrax a matter of days - can't give you any info on durability. It seems like it should last a long time as the design is pretty basic. The plastic material is pretty strong and can be polished with standard auto polish. I'm impressed that it seals so well (I got the optional tail gate seal for a couple of extra dollars).
I put a Diamondback cover on my rig. Its braced underneath and I can put between 1000-1200 pounds on top of the cover and still have some storage underneath.
I have the Fold-A-Cover and love it! DSWEGER said it well.
I have had it in heavy rains in OBX, even several inches of snow on top.
no problems very durable, weather proof, and versatile.
I was thinkin on running a soft tonneau with my tool box in the bed... do they sell ones specificallly for this application of do i need to just buy one for an 6' bed. I have an 8' bed. Anyone?
I also have the Extang full tilt tonneau (soft) and love it. It comes with the gas charged shocks and (easily) comes off in seconds (very light), or it can be rolled as well. I have a 7 3/4 bed and the complete tonneau tilts. I don't have any leaking issues and installation took about 1 hour.
