I have a 96 f350 powerstroke diesel that is blowing a 30 amp fuse in the distribution panel under the hood that feeds the glowplug and fuel line heater circuit. Does anyone have an ideas? The first time it happened I replaced it and it lasted for about 12 days but the other mornig it went again and it wasn't even that cold out. Any feedback would be of help.
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure where that connection for the heater is located. would you be able to tell me where that is? I could check it for a ground or short if I know where it is. I suspect that connection would be under the cover near the glow plug relay? This is my first time on this site and I'm learning my way around. Thanks for your help in advance. Chazman03
The heater is part of the fuel filter canister, it connects on there. (A red wire with white tracer, if memory serves, which it may not...)
Obviously it *will* affect your truck in some way! If you're in a cold part of the country you shoudl fix the short eventually, but disconnecting it will get you mobile for now.
Thanks for your help. I did see a red wire in that area. I'll look into that. It is cold here in south jersey, so I wouldn'want to eliminate it permanently. Its usually below 25 degrees at night this time of year.
