odd ping cure... but why did it work?
Hi everyone,
Well after 10 years I changed out my thermopstat, dropped in a new 192 degree, topped off the antifreeze, warmed her up (no leaks!), and took a drive.
She got up to temp EXACTLY in the same spot the old one did, just into the O in NORMAL, so I was pleased (and quite happy I had a set of shorty wrenches too)
but on the home leg of my drive I realized that I had no ping!! What gives? I turned down my radio, turned off my heat fan... yep, NO PING! This is the same tank of gas, same everything, just no ping! And I have always gotten ping on the gas they server here in the winter months. I never could figure out why so I just upped to 92 octane which cured 92% of it.
I flush and fill every 2 years so that couldn't be it either...
