I now don't feel so bad. Some of you make me look good. I have to go back to Idaho next saturday to see my daugher again. I thought that when they moved out to go to college you would see less of them. This is the third trip in 6 weeks. I saw her less when she was at home. Know I have to travel 170 miles one way. What would we do with out them?
Haven't had a ticket in years, but a guy here in Minnesota got 1 a few months ago on a bike for doing 200+ miles per hour. I haven't heard about the fine yet, but I bet it will be a whopper!
I saw that in a paper down here in <st1lace><st1:City>Ames</st1:City>, <st1:State>IA.</st1:State></st1lace> Guys I know who are part of a bike club said they have seen that bike in person and said it is impossible to 200+. Max would be around 170 to 180 b/c it doesn't have a turbo. That and it wasn't clocked with a radar gun, it was with a stop watch in a plane. Very inaccurate.
More than twice the limit isa felony here... most of the time, you'll get a $20 ticket for wasting natural resources.
$20? For burning gas?
I have to say (knock on wood) that the local cops don't really give out too many speeding tickets. At least not to me. It's been about 3 years since I got my last speeding ticket, a whole $115 for 100k in an 80. I've been averaging about a ticket every 3 years so I think I'm due.
Funny thing is, cops are everywhere you don't expect them, and when you're haulin', there isn't a cop to be seen.
Well, got to go for now. See you guys in the morning.
Timing across distance is much more accurate than Radar. Ask anybody who's ever been to radar training.
The fine for 10 over the limit here is 195. 20 over is 240, 30 over is 390, over 30 is depending on the court. Reckless is $1150, DUI is 2500 1st time goes up from there.
Was meeting a friend in the Black Hills, when he was late I asked him what had happened. He had gotten pulled over for 155 in a 65 zone (testing his new 350z)
He told the officer the truth, that he was trying it out on an open country road, with plenty of visibility and no cars to be seen for at leat 10 miles. As he was still in suit and tie and was polite and honest, the officer did not take his license or impound the car, but did write him a ticket for actual speed.
He would not say how much the ticket was...other than more than a year of car payments on the Z.
He traded off the nissan and bought a Jeep Wrangler the next week. Figures he can't get that high a ticket in it.....Probably right....
most expensive one ive gotten was around 150 bucks for about 25 mph over the speed limit. i jus got one this past friday down in GA for 76 in a 55 in my brothers truck which doesnt have a tag on it, luckily i just got a warning for the tag but i got the full ticket for speeding, cant wait to see how much it is.
by the way does anyone know how out of state tickets work? i mean my license is from NY and i got the ticket in GA so will i get points on my license or will it go on my record at all?
And my personal favourite, I was climbing a hill outside Brandon, MB that has a passing lane on each side. There was a lot of slow traffic ahead of me, so I just floored it all the way up the hill and over the top. Once I crested the top , I had to pull back into the right lane behind a jeep, but was still going 155km/h. Anyway, about 5 seconds after I got moved over I met a cop car! But he never even flinched at me!
Here's a good one...I was stationed in Germany for 5 years. I get transfered back to the states (SC), and picked up my car I had shipped back from the port. Now, I have 30 days to transfer the regisrtation. Being military in Europe, we get an armend forces liscense plate on our cars. Everything is pretty much the same. You get your annual registration, etc. Anyway, I leave the port, get on the intersate, and what do you knw> I get stopped by the South Carolina State Patrol! I wrote a ticket for having an unregistered vehicle (registration was still current at the time by the way), and also cited me for driving without SC insurance. I tried to explain that I was just returning from overseas, but he would not hear of it. I get to my next base, tell my brand new supervisor, that I have to take off to go to court.
After explaining my case to the judge, he tabled it, looked at the laws, and I was in the right. No diffrent than someone from one state driving to another. Especially since I have a Georgia driver's liscense. He dismissed everything, and when I asked the county clerk how much I was looking at (I was just curious), and wa stold that the total fines could have been up to $1000!

I probably will go on your record. A guy I worked with was stopped for speeding in Ga (He's from oregon). We were on our way back from Iraq, and flew into Baltimore. When we was going through customs, he was arrested for an outstanding warrant for not appearing in court for the ticket. At least he had a good excuse....the arrest was cleared and now 6 months later, it appeared on his driving record.
52 in a 35 was $166. Here, they have what they call a STOP class you can take to avoid paying the fine. You can pay $60 and sit in a class for 8 hours on a Saturday. Sucks either way, but I'll opt for the class to save $100.
