gritty oil residue
I was installing my CCV bypass kit today and notice a gritty oily residue in the second tube just before the turbo. THe first tube, off the air filter was spotless. I realize the oil is from the crank case vapors but why the grittyness? Do I have a leak? Is this a sign that Im dusting my motor? My next planned purchase is the upgraded factory intake, maybe I should get it quicker then planned.

I take it you have a stock air box. What year is the truck? I have a '97 and you have to be real carefull when putting the box back together. Take the rubber hose that goes to the turbo OFF when putting the lid back on, then put the hose on after everthing is tightend down. If you leave the hose on it will put pressure on the lid in one direction causing the lid to not sit correctly. I think I am going to try Kwik's NAPA # 6637 idea and leave the air scoop from the front grill in place. I figure it will cost all of $40.
