You make one hell of a good point. If you want to race a Ford, pick up a Supercharged Saleen 400hp 420 ftlb torque Stang. Even better, the Saleen Extreme with 500 hp. Saleen has some specs on their website. Racing trucks is a personal preference, but I think the factory should stick to the Roots as well.

How to the Power Wagon 5.7, and F-250 6.8 compare in weight? This could be a deciding factor in a race between two 3/4 ton rigs.

Back on topic. If Ford did in fact cancle the Hurricane project, it was a bad move IMO. The new 6.1 will be out this spring, and whats Ford gonna throw up against that? The Hurricane was their chance to conquer the 5.7, and 6.1. Now they may have nothing. As we can see in this thread, Ford enthusiasts want a performance motor in their trucks. A nice 6.2 Hurricane in the F-150 would attract alot of attention. Especially from performance enthusiasts. This could hurt Ford down the road. It depends on what Ford has planned.

I bet the F-250 is heavier, that V10 weighs a bunch more than the 5.7, at least I'd figure it would be, but there's no fact in that statement, just a guess...

I'd like to see the Hurricane, too, but like you said, we'll have to wait and see what they do have planned...It may be something even better than the Hurricane.
It sucks to believe that Ford cancels the Hurricane, SVT, and doesn't come up with anything to replace either one of them. They must have something in the works, though, or you're right, it's going to hurt them down the road...

Something tells me that Ford does have something better in the works. Instead of rushing the Hurricane program, delay or cancle it, and come up with a groundbreaker. I can see this happening easily.

Yah the 6.8 would add alot of weight to the F-250. And the Power Wagon is packing alot of heavy duty equipment. I think th ewight would be real close between the two. YOu could guess either way, and be close.

The Power Wagon was lighter, we talked about this article awhile ago. You can always do a search. The v10 beat it in quarter mile and 0-60.

HEMI:

1/8th mile: 11.51 @ 61.44 Half payload: 11.86 @ 59.37
1/4 mile: 17.95 @ 74.85 Half payload: 18.47 @ 73.02
Braking 60-0: 193.4 ft Half payload: 189.6 ft

V10:

1/8th mile: 11.16 @ 63.97 Half payload: 11.82 @ 60.40
1/4 mile: 17.37 @ 78.86 Half payload: 18.34 @ 74.97
Braking 60-0: 193.4 ft Half payload: 135.6

doesn't anybody read magazines...the cobra and L are coming back in 07..they want time to make sure that the L can reclaim its spot as fastest truck, the lack of bigger engine is due to government fuel mandates and with the cobra and L still having to be factored in the calculations it kills them. The hemi is only a name...every company has some similiar way to mix the air and the fuel. [edited - FL55 ]

The rumor hp #s on both the cobra and L are over 500hp and cobra has rumor around it of a Glorious 5.0 crate motor, stock roll cage, sick looking body kit

until i see less fords on the job site than another make, i'm not worried.
In my expereince BUILT FORD TOUGH is no joke.

Yap and thats how we know the L and Cobra have been shelved for a few years. The L won be out in 07 and the Cobra wont be either.
