I just helped picked up a project truck for a buddy of mine 83 F150 4x4 351W. The wiring under the hood is a total mess. The distributor has no wires coming of of it like most distributors I am use to have. The ignition module has been tapped into the harness somewhere else. Dose anyone have a simple schematic of an entire electronic ignition? I think we should redo the system instead of trying to fix the mess in there now Thanks.

If your dist does not have a vacuum advance can on the side, you might have a EECIII type dist which should be converted over to a duarspark II type and the module will have the blue plug where the wires go in.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Apr-02 AT 00:06 AM (EST)]Thanks franklin2 that is just the info I needed. Yes it does have the EEC-III ignition. I will let you know how it went with the conversion. Thanks again

Got everything wired up, but the engine will only start and run with the key in the run position. The wiring is all in the right place, but I think my problem might be the wires from the switch out to the solenoid. Anybody have any ideas?? Thanks

You need a wiring diagram for your truck. Then following the wiring diagram from the link I posted before, you should be able to match the wires up, and tape off the ones you don't need. You then could get an older 2bbl motorcraft carb or get a 4bbl manifold and a small holley or edelbrock carb to go on it.
