i was just wondering if anyone has a 1999 or newer F250 with a lift of about 8" or so and could tell me a little bit about it(cost, time, look, ect...), becuase i am looking at getting one of these and do not know anyone who has one. i was thinking V10 but with the price of gas its almost scary to think of the milage it would get with a lift. any input would be great, thanks a bunch
Use the search feature on this site and you will find a ton of info on the subject. In short a complete lift can be had for anywhere from a few hundred bucks to a couple of thousand depending on name brand and quality. Install time is about 10-12 hrs in a decent shop with air tools and a good helper would be nice (I did mine by myself in good shop, not fun). The lift won't change your milage as much as tire size, gear ratio and driving style. I'm sure the v10 is great but I LOVE my 7.3 diesel.
Cost...
I got my 8" superlift all spring, with the carrier bearing drop with tax for 1400. That included new brake lines, etc. Everything I needed. Tires were around 300 bucks a piece... rims I already had.
Time... I did the lift in two afternoons.. the back the first afternoon, the front the second afternoon. Not bad at all.
Most definitely. When I went from stock to the 6.5" lift, I was like "oh man my truck's gonna be the baddest around!". Not so much the story, seems like everyone and their mom has a lifted ford out here. That's another reason I threw those lights on the front, I need to set my truck out from the rest somehow.
But jesus, 40's... (sigh).. I'm sure I'd get to that point and be like, why not just put the 52" mich's on it. haa haa. I wonder if they make medicine for the sickness I (we) have with these trucks...
haha yeah i dont think there is a cure! half of my buddies and me all have the same thing. we start with 35's and end with 49's and still think we just look average. but as far as i can tell with most guys, the biggest is most of the time the best!
ive got a 2002 f 250 with a 8 inch BDS lift. and let me just say it looks great! ive got 39 inch toyo MT and 18 inch rockstar rims. as far as price and everything else i paid a little over 6 grand and it took them like a day and a half. now if your thinking about doing it i would call a shop that does it and tell them what you want and then they will get the sizes and fun stuff. but the 8 inch lift is a perfect lift..great choice.
Diversity is a pretty cool thing. I can't imagine, for the life of me, why someone would want an 8" lift, or respond to a three and a half year old thread, but I'm glad we can!
