Hi everyone hope everyone is doing,im looking to get a good little digital camera just under 200 dollars,i think im going to go with this one, does anybody have one of these? if so id love to hear some feedback on it. Thanks in advance!
I think the Kodak Easyshare looks like a pretty good choice, but after reading up on digital cameras for quite some time, I ended up with a Canon A75, bought for $198. Very pleased. You'll probably get a good camera with the Kodak Easyshare, but at least give the A75 a look before you buy. Maybe check their specs out side-by-side and read a couple reviews on each one.
Mudder,
STOP! Don’t go out and buy that camera just yet.
Digital cameras, specifically ‘point and shoot’ digital cameras, all have this pesky little problem the manufacturers keep to themselves. It is TABOO for them to discuss or quantify in their specifications. What is this problem you ask? Well, it’s called SHUTTER LAG. Simply put, shutter lag is the measurement of time from the point at which you push the little button, to the time your photo is actually taken. Most point and shoot digital cameras are TERRIBLE in this respect, which makes the ‘point and shoot’ term somewhat of an oxymoron. If you are the type of person who likes to catch that perfect shot of little Johnny blow’n out that last candle, FORGET IT! It don’t work.
Shutter lags on most point and shoot digital cameras range between .4 and one second. Again, an eternity if you’re lookin to catch that one all important shot. My advice would be to ‘test drive’ many models. Don’t bother asking the question to your local camera dealer, cuz he don’t know. If he does know, ask him to see the specification to prove it. Pentax to my knowledge, is one of the only ones who publish shutter lag in their specifications. Good luck and shop wisely.
woa,uhh i dont think thatll be a problem for me,thanks for your concern though,im just looking for something to snap a picture of the bass i just caught,or a picture of a sun set or whatever, thanks again tho for pointing that out,its something i wasnt aware of,i guess ya do learn something every day!
RocketScience brings up a good point. Something else to look into is how fast the flash charges. Every time I take a shot with a flash, there's about a 2 second down time before I can take another, plus the shutter lag. My camera was a gift though, so I can't really complain.
I just tested the thing, and it's more like a 4 or 5 second flash recharge. Without the flash, there's just the half second shutter lag. At the end of the day though, I'm pretty happy with it.
I would recommend a 3 or 4 megapixel camera, with optical zoom and macro focusing. A 2 mp might seem alright at first, but is a bit low in picture quality. Be sure the zoom feature is optical and not just digital zoom. I use the macro feature often when taking closeup pictures of truck parts for my online buddies. ...Terry
