Trying to decide between 2002 and 2001

What are the major differences between a 2001 and a 2002 f-250 Supercab 2wd shortbed 7.3 diesel? What would you recommend for the money and are there any other major differences and which is best for towing a 10,000 lb boat. New to diesels and trying to sell a 1992 f250 supercab 4x4 460 gas. Should be quite an upgrade for towing. Any specs and details on the trucks will help. thanks

On the outside what is most noticeable to me is the parking lamps. '01 is amber '02 has a clear lens. On the inside the instrument cluster is different; the '02 looks ,of course, newer. As for the engine and trans I think, not sure, its all the same. Either one would be better than the 460(MPG).

Ease of manufacturing would be my guess. There's nothing wrong with the powdered metal rods as long as you don't add HP. They're just fine with a stock engine. They just can't take more than 400 HP.

I have a 2001 but my ? is, how did you arrive at 400 HP? You got me wondering as I plan to buy a 2006 when they come out and mod the heck outta it(fun truck vs work truck)

From what I have read here on this forum. The PM rods just give up.

Actually only '01's with engines built before around mid to late October 2000 have forged rods. After October 2000 all '01 model engines had PMR's (powdered metal rods).
